The questions we hear most, answered in plain English.
Factoring should be simple to understand before you sign anything. Here are straight answers to the questions clients ask most about A/R funding, also known as invoice factoring. If yours is not here, call the team and a real person will walk you through it. No call centers. No bots.
Getting started
Can a new business qualify?
Yes. Approval depends primarily on your customers' credit, so newly formed companies can qualify. As long as you invoice creditworthy business customers, a young company can factor from its first invoices. There is no cost to get a quote.
What is invoice factoring?
Invoice factoring is a form of accounts receivable funding in which your business sells outstanding invoices in exchange for an immediate cash advance. You receive a large portion of the invoice value up front, with the remainder, less a small fee, paid once your customer pays. It is not a loan.
How is factoring different from a bank loan?
A bank loan adds debt and is underwritten on your business credit. Factoring is the sale of an invoice, underwritten primarily on your customers' credit. That makes it accessible to growing businesses that may not yet qualify for traditional bank financing.
How long does setup take?
Setup time depends on your industry, your customers, and how quickly documents come together — and if timing is tight, say so: a real person works your file and moves it as fast as complete paperwork allows. Your account manager sends a document checklist up front and keeps you updated at each step, so you will always know where things stand. Once your account is live, approved invoices submitted before the 1 PM CT cutoff fund the same business day.
Funding your account
How fast can I get funded?
Once your account is established, approved invoices submitted before the 1 PM CT cutoff fund the same business day, Monday through Friday. To qualify for same day funding, complete paperwork must be submitted by the 1:00 p.m. CT cutoff time M-F. All funding is subject to initial application approval.
Do I have to factor all my invoices?
No. There are no volume minimums, and you pick the customers you fund. Many clients fund a single large customer or a handful of slow-paying accounts and bill the rest themselves. You can adjust the program as your cash flow needs change.
How many customers do I have to factor?
There is no minimum. You pick the customers you fund and can fund a single customer or a handful of slow-paying accounts, billing the rest yourself. There are no volume minimums, so you fund as much or as little as fits your cash flow.
Will my customers know?
Yes. Customer notification is standard for factoring, and your customers pay Integra directly. Our collections team handles all interactions professionally and represents itself transparently as your funding partner. Integra also runs free credit checks on your customers before you fund them.
Fees & pricing
What is your factoring rate?
We tailor competitive rates to match your situation rather than publishing a rate card. Rates are based on your customers' creditworthiness, invoice volume, and payment terms. Every fee is disclosed in writing before you sign. There is no cost to get a quote, and no minimums.
Are there hidden fees?
No. Every fee that applies to your account is disclosed in writing on your term sheet before you sign, and applied consistently. There are no surprise minimums and no undisclosed month-end deductions. The fees you see on day one are the fees you are billed.
What does it cost to get a quote?
Nothing. There is no cost to get a quote, and no obligation to accept it. Your quoted factoring rate is the price of the service, with any add-on services disclosed separately and only if you choose them.
Factoring terms
What is the difference between recourse and non-recourse factoring?
Recourse factoring means your business buys back an invoice if the customer fails to pay within an agreed window. Non-recourse means Integra absorbs the credit loss if a previously approved customer becomes insolvent, not merely slow to pay. Integra offers both, and checks your customers' credit up front to keep non-payment rare.
What is a factor buyout?
A factor buyout is the process of switching from your current factoring company to Integra. Integra coordinates the payoff with your existing factor and handles the notice-of-assignment transfer so your funding continues without a gap. You do not have to wait out your current arrangement to start.
What is a notice of assignment?
A notice of assignment is a letter sent to your customer redirecting invoice payment to the factor. It is a standard, routine part of any factoring relationship and does not signal trouble. It is simply how a factored invoice gets paid to the right place.
